Brief Defination of Analouge Computer their Characteristics, Components, Advantage, Disadvantage, With Example in Advanced Lable in 2022

Ø  What is an Analogue Computer?

Analogue computer is measuring device. This device performed data will be continuously changeable. This device performed task the physical quantities, temperature, pressure weight and height and gives the result in the form of digits.

They process the given data or instruction or information into analog data or simple data.

They are equipped for measuring instead of counting or checking.

They are also specifically designed for measuring and can perform arithmetical calculations upon numbers where numbers are indicated by physical quantities or physical amounts.

Analog computers are used by civil engineers, mechanical engineers and electrical engineers. Needle clock is an example of analog computer.

Characteristics:-

  1.  It is solved difficult mathematical problems.
  2.  This types of computers will be high processing device.
  3.  It gives us represent the correct results in 99.9%.
  4.   This type of computer will be measurement changeable things like temperature, pressure weight and height.
  5.  Less consumption of bandwidth.
  6.  It has more speed to produce result.
  7. No need the transducers to transform input/output to digital electronic form.

Components of Analog Computer

·            Precision resistors and capacitors

·            Operational amplifiers

·            Multipliers

·            Potentiometers

·            Fixed-function generators

Advantage :-

  1. Parallel operation--many signal values can be computed real time.
  2. Computation can be done for some applications without any requirement for transducers to convert the inputs or outputs to digital electronic form.
  3. Setup requires the programmer scale the problem for the dynamic range of the computer. This can give insight to the problem and the effects of various errors.

Disadvantages :-

·         Computations operations have various limitations to dynamic range like as not more about 125 dB.

·         The size of generated results can be taken large amount of setup time frame.

·         More power consumption.

·         Its result is displayed only in real time, so less probability to store its result for future uses.

·         All elements of problems work on the large different time scales, so it’s difficult to deal along with accurately values.

·         Signal conversion’s rate is higher, which are displayed inside.

·         Less possibility – upgrade to digital interface.

Examples:- Thermometer, Speedometer, Resistance of Capacitor etc.

Happy Learning!!
